Zoom athletes receive coaching from the most talented coaching staff in Colorado. We have a unique blend of World-Class athletes, successful master athletes, professional & recreational coaches, as well as parent volunteers, all of which serve as positive role models for our young team. They all share a positive coaching style of encouragement and enthusiasm for personal accomplishments.
Connie Williams Head Coach Zoom Coach Since 2002 A 3-time NCAA Division I All-American, NCAA silver medalist, USA Indoor Silver & Outdoor Bronze medalist. USA top 10 ranking. 1992 Olympic Trials finalist in the high jump. USA Olympic Festival bronze medalist. Connie was the first female All-American at Wichita State University and the first female athlete inducted into the university's Hall of Fame. Ranked nationally in the master’s 200, 400 & high jump. Connie has coached three National Junior Olympic champions. She is a USA Track & Field certified coach, certified personal trainer, and a certified official. Connie has a B.S. in Business Management and an MBA from Wichita State University. USA Track & Field Background Check
Sprint Coach Zoom Coach Since 2003 Kevin is the former 200 meter American record holder and 1997 World Indoor 200 meter champion. Kevin has competed on 9 World Championship teams. He is the 1993 World Indoor Champion in the Sprint Medley, and World Indoor Silver medalist in the 200 meter in 1995. He holds 3 bronze medals in the World Championships as well as a 6th & 7th place finish in 1999 & 2001. Kevin’s personal bests are 10.13 in the 100M, 20.10 in the 200M, and 44.77 in the 400M. Kevin will be inducted into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame on March 7, 2008. Kevin has a B.S. in Marketing from Drake University.
Gene Kamrass Distance & Cross Country Coach Zoom Coach Since 2004 As a member of the LA track club, Gene held the National AAU Masters (over 40) World Record in both the 440 yard dash and 4 x 440 relay team that took National honors in the same meet. Gene retired from the Air Force (where he ran and coached) with the rank of Lt. Colonel. He coached Bill Dillenger who finished 3rd in the 5000 in the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Aaron Williams Sprints, 400 meter Zoom Coach Since 2005
Aaron is a two-time NAIA All-American in both the 400 & 800 meter races. He was an athlete-coach, writing the middle-distance workouts for the nation's largest collegiate track program that has won 21 NCAA titles. Aaron placed in the top 15 in the U.S. at the National Master's meet in 2003. Aaron has been a youth coach for many sports since 1999 and serves on the board of directors for several non-profit youth programs. Aaron has B.S. in Geography with specialization in mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, and an MBA from the University of Denver.
David Hall Sprints, 400 meter, Field Events Zoom Coach Since 2006 Coach Hall attended the University of Michigan on a football scholarship. He competed 4 years in both football and track, and played one season of basketball. Hall lettered in 3 sports while attending University of Michigan. He set the University of Michigan’s record in the decathlon, and he is also a two-time National Junior Olympics silver medalist in the Decathlon. Coach Hall is a USA Track & Field certified official. MBA from University of Texas.
Cindy Balman Sprints, 400 meter, Field Events Zoom Coach Since 2007 Cindy earned a college scholarship from Colorado State University to compete in both the sprints & the long jump. Cindy plays a vital role in the Zoom Try Outs & also was a long jump official for the 2007 State Junior Olympic Championships. Cindy began coaching for the Zoom Track Club in 2007.
Mark Stevens Sprints, 400 meter, Field Events Zoom Coach Since 2007 Mark is a former college football player. He has over 17 years experience coaching youth sports. He is currently the President of the Highlands Ranch Youth Football Association. Mark received his USA Track & Field coaches certification at the US Olympic Training Center.
Dave Kemman Sprints, 400 meter, Hurdles Zoom Coach Since 2008
Dave begins his second season with the Zoom Track Club. Dave is the assistant hurdle coach for Zoom as well as the hurdle coach and an assistant basketball coach at Highlands Ranch High School.
Michael Opp Throws Zoom Coach Since 2008
Michael is a five-time conference champion is shot and discus. Four-time National Qualifier in Discus. Top 50 in U.S. list in discus in 1995. Top 40 in U.S. list in discus in 1996. Throwing coach at Mullen H.S. in 2000. Current record holder of shot and discus marks at Regis Jesuit H.S. Football: Two time 1st Team All Conference defensive end. Named top male athlete of the year by local paper in 1992 for Community of Redlands. Head freshman football coach at Mullen H.S. 1992. Graduated from University of Redlands in CA in 1992.
Stacy Schmidt Triple Jump, Sprints Zoom Coach Since 2008
Originally from Storm Lake, Iowa, Stacy competed as a sprinter & triple jumper for Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. Stacy coached her 1st national qualifier in her 1st season with Zoom. Stacy works for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Rob Ferguson Distance Zoom Coach Since 2009 Rob is a high school cross country coach in his first season with the Zoom program. We welcome coach Rob’s wealth of experience and knowledge to the Zoom distance team.
